PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outboard motor capable of sailing particularly even in a shoal and a narrow water channel and an outboard motor suited for a racing accompaniment ship of canoe or board in still water, relating to a water jet propulsion outboard motor of the ship preventing waving of the water surface behind the ship when it is sailed. SOLUTION: This outboard motor 1 propels a ship by sucking water from a submerged suction casing 4 to apply a pressure to the water by an impeller 7 provided in a pump casing 6 on the water surface to inject the pressure water backward from a delivery casing 8. In that outboard motor 1, an injection duct 9 is connected to the delivery casing 8, a jet nozzle 10 provided in a tip end part of the injection duct 9 is submerged, and bubbling and dilatational waves on the water surface are reduced by jetting the pressure water into the water. A protecting arm 12 is provided in a suction water port 5 of the suction casing 4, and a tip end part in a sailing direction of the arm 12 is curved upward to be extended, so as to prevent the suction casing 4 of the outboard motor 1 form abutting on a rock or the like in the water bottom and a fishing net or a racing rope of canoe or the like. |
