PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint for a flexible pipe providing such a connecting state as smashing and sandwiching the projecting end of a flexible pipe projected from the tip of a retainer and improving the connecting workability only by a practical work of eliminating the arrangement of retreating a presser ring from an engagement initial position a little and removing a positioning member. SOLUTION: A retainer 3 and a stopper 7 are stored in a connecting hole 1C of a joint body in such a state as axially opposed to each other. A presser ring 2 is advanced by a low torque till the arc face 3f of the retainer abuts on a taper 7d of a stopper 7, and the advancement of the retainer 3 is provisionally stopped at the time of the abutment of the arc face against the taper so that the presser ring 2 is prevented from engaged therein deeper than the engagement initial position. Then, the presser ring 2 is rotated by high torque to be advanced, the retainer 3 is pushed to a receiver 1F side by the high propulsion force, and a mountain of the flexible pipe 10 projected from the retainer 3 is smashed and sandwiched between the receiver face 1f and the tip end face 3B of the retainer.
