PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact billet welding equipment the device life of which is long and with which the temp. drop of the billet is prevented and high temp. is kept during the welding device is traveled to weld. SOLUTION: This equipment has a heat reserving cover groups 9 which are extended and contracted in the direction of the line by being pushed and pulled with a traveling truck 5 and the heat reserving cover groups 9 consist of the fixed heat reserving covers 9g which are fixed on the inlet side and outlet side of the welding device and a moving heat reserving covers 9e which are connected to the traveling truck 5 and moved together with the traveling truck and driven heat reserving covers 9f which are situated between the fixed heat reserving covers 9g and the moving heat reserving covers 9e and moved following up the moving heat reserving covers. Each heat reserving cover consists of a U-shaped upper cover with which the top and side faces of the billet are enclosed and a planar lower cover with which the bottom is covered. Because these heat reserving covers 9e-9g are extended and contracted, the traveling of the welding device A is not hindered and the biletts B1, B2 are kept to reserve their heat during welding.
