The invention relates to a vacuum pump for supplying negative pressure to a consumer. Said vacuum pump has a housing and a pump insert which is arranged in said housing and which is driven by means of a drive device. The invention is characterised in that the pump insert can be coupled to and uncoupled from the drive device (20) by means of a controllable coupling device (43), in that the coupling device (43) can be controlled with the negative pressure from the consumer, and in that a valve device (58) is provided between the consumer and the coupling device (43). Said valve device opens a medium connection between the consumer and the coupling device (43) at a first negative pressure value in the consumer and interrupts this medium connection at a second negative pressure value, the first negative pressure value being lower than the second negative pressure value. |
