NEGATIVE ELECTRODE MATERIAL FOR SECONDARY BATTERY, ITS MANUFACTURE, AND SECONDARY BATTERY USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow manufacture out of a waste, and to provide a large charge- discharge capacity. SOLUTION: A negative electrode 12 and a positive electrode 14 are opposed via a separator 15 to be interposed with an electrolyte 16 therebetween. A current collector of nickel fiber is mixed to a negative electrode mixture mixed with a carbonaceous material derived from a buckwheat chaff, a binder and a solvent, in the negative electrode 12. The carbonaceous material derived from the buckwheat chaff is provided by heat-treating the chaff obtained as a waste in the case of production of buckwheat. The carbonaceous material has a lot of ion intercalation sites for an ion such as lithium ion, and has a small amount of release-incapable position. A charge-discharge capacity is enhanced thereby to provide an excellent charge-discharge cycle characteristic and a large charge-discharge capacity.
