SOLUTION: The clamping part of an endoscope operation part is provided with electrodes 21 and 22 functioning as a set of electrode parts contacting and conducting when the clamping part is clamped, so that electrostatic capacity is changed, and a detection circuit 61 detecting the change of the electrostatic capacity of the electrodes 21 and 22 and a control circuit 62 turning on/off the lamp 30 based on the detected result by the circuit 61 are formed on a substrate 50 inside the battery unit of a battery type light source, Thus, the lamp 30 is turned on/off by clamping the clamping part of the endoscope operation part and releasing the clamping, so that the consumption of the battery 45, the power consumption and the shortening of the life of the lamp caused by forgetting to turn off the lamp switch or the misoperation are prevented.
