摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide proper flexibility which reduces stress generated in a liquid crystal owing to the difference in volumetric shrinkage between the liquid crystal and both electrode substrates by providing support partition walls supporting the gap between both the electrode substrates and a sitting partition wall which has a gap with an internal surface as partition walls in stripes interposed in parallel between both the electrode substrates. SOLUTION: The partition walls 50 and 60 in stripes which are interposed in parallel between both the electrode substrates 10 and 20 are composed of the support partition walls 50 which support the gap between both the electrode substrates and at least one sitting partition wall 60 which sits on the internal surface of one of the electrode substrate 10 and 20 between the respective support partition walls 50 so that the gap is left with the internal surface of the other electrode substrate. Consequently, the gap between both the electrode substrates 10 and 20 becomes large between the respective support partition walls 50 to make easy the elastic deformation of the part between the support partition walls 50. Consequently, even if a liquid crystal 30 charged in the liquid crystal cell has a volumetric shrinkage owing to its temperature variation, the gap between both the electrode substrates 10 and 20 becomes narrow following the shrinkage while suppressing the stress due to the shrinkage in the liquid crystal 30.
