METHOD FOR EDGING SLAB AND DIE UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slab edging method by which the generation of a fish tail is prevented and yield is improved without lowering the productivity of a hot rolling line and die unit which is suitable to execute this method. SOLUTION: This method is the slab edging method for reducing both end parts in the width direction of a slab which is conveyed in one way toward the center side in the width direction. This method has a main reduction stage where edging is executed while conveying the slab in one way using main dies 2 provided with parallel surface part 11 and tapered surface part 12, and rear- end-part reducing stage where edging is executed while suppressing flow backward in the conveying direction of a material in both end parts in the width direction of the slab using dies 3 for edging the rear end part provided with a parallel surface part 14 and flow suppressing surface part 15 where is projected toward the center side in the width direction of the slab at the time of edging the rear end part of the slab.
