The present invention relates to compositions used in the application of coatings on buildings and structures essentially made of wood or metal, wherein said coatings exhibit high fire-protection and thermal insulation properties. This invention can be used in the building industry, in aviation , in railway transports and in the shipbuilding industry. This composition comprises a foaming system containing pentaerythritol or sorbitol, ammonium polyphosphate, boric acid, urea, a filler, a pigment as well as a binder consisting of resin.
