PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module preventing a transmission characteristic from deteriorating due to ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: This optical module is provided with optical fiber arrays 1A, 1B that at least one side between an arrangement substrate 5 and a fixed substrate 7 holding an optical fiber between them is made of glass and an optical element 2 are optically connected to each other, and a coating 8 by material preventing the transmission of the ultraviolet rays on the outer periphery of the optical element 2. Thus, the matter that the glass members of the optical fiber arrays 1A, 1B and the optical element 2 are irradiated with the ultraviolet rays, and internal stress is increased is prevented.
