PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous antifogging coating material capable of reducing or eliminating an organic solvent contained therein, having excellent storage stability, and capable of controlling the elution rate of a coating film to exhibit the antifogging property over a long period. SOLUTION: This aqueous antifogging coating contains (A) an aqueous resin emulsion which is obtained by an emulsion polymerization method and has carboxyl groups and/or metal carboxylate groups in the resin molecule and a resin acid value of 10-300 KOH mg/g, and, if necessary, (B) an aqueous metal complex having a carboxylic acid and a divalent or polyvalent metal. Therein, the equivalents [W] of the metal forming the metal carboxylate groups in the component A, the equivalents [X] of the metal in the aqueous metal complex (B), the equivalents [Y] of the carboxyl groups in the aqueous resin emulsion (A), and the equivalents (Z) of the metal carboxylate groups in the aqueous resin emulsion (A) satisfies the inequality: 0.2<=(W+X)/(Y+Z)<=4.0.
