PURPOSE: An overlapping device for an external video input is provided to reproduce an external video input signal as well as MPEG(Moving Picture Expert Group) in an interactive CD. CONSTITUTION: The overlapping device includes a synchronizing signal separator(12) separating vertical and horizontal synchronizing signals from external video input signals, a decoder IC(14) having an external video control register, a DAC(Digital Analog Converter)/encoder(16) connected to the separator and the register, and an analog switch(18) connected to the register and the encoder. The input signals are supplied to the separator and the analog switch through a first node(21). Then, vertical and horizontal synchronizing signals from the separator are supplied to the decoder IC and the DAC/encoder. The decoder IC supplies pixel data and pixel clock to the DAC/encoder, and the DAC/encoder supplies composite image signal to the analog switch.
