PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the attaching/detaching force of a cassette in a paper feeder to elevate a bottom plate by interlocking with the insertion action of the cassette. SOLUTION: A bottom plate 6 is elevated by operating a bottom elevating arm 7 by a lever 12 which is abutted on a boss 20 provided on both sides of a cassette 5 when the cassette 5 is inserted, and turned interlocking by with the movement of the boss 20, the boss on one side is formed longer than the boss 20 on the other side, end parts on the paper feed direction side are set to the positions different from each other, and a load from the lever 12 is prevented from being simultaneously applied to the cassette 5 by allowing the boss 20 to abut on the lever 12 after the boss 20 is allowed to abut on the lever 12 when the cassette 5 is inserted.
