The sliding roof 16 of a vehicle is sealed at its front, rear and side edges by a sealing strip 3 of e.g. elastomer, plastomer or duromer extending along the front &c., side of the sliding roof 16 and having on its marginal portion a coating 2 of tufts, preferably of nylon or natural fibre applied electrostatically, and at its upper edge a flange strip 3 which extends preferably across the width of the coating 2 when the roof is closed home against the front edge 18 of the roof aperture compressing the coating. As shown the strip 3 is mounted on a straddle type attachment strip 4 pushed on to the flange portion of the roof 16. The strip 4 is reinforced by U-section metal element 8 and is retained on the flange by ribs 6, 7. The limit 5 of the attachment member 4 is hollow over the width of the coating 2 and the outer wall 10 has a reduced thickness 15 to be cut along the strip to accommodate the retaining flange 11 of a hard P.V.C. water drainage trough 12 with a U-section attachment portion which can be fixed on the attachment strip 4 of the seal strip, Fig. 3, for attachment on the rear flange of the slidable roof. |
