The printed circuit board (12) is placed on an inclined flat plate (8). A transparent ruler (13) has a hole (14) directly above the end of the drill bit (18). The board is examined through a magnifying lens (11) and moved until the required position for the hole is over the drill bit. The board and plate are then pressed down so that the rotating bit drills the required hole from underneath.
