A rotary hydraulic pump, as shown a gear pump, for supplying hydraulic pressure fluid to e.g., a wobble plate pump to ensure that the cylinders of the latter pump at any operating speed are always filled, comprises aligned plates 2, 3, 4, Fig. 1a, secured by bolts (not shown) to the base-plate 1 of the wobble plate pump wherein the base-plate 1 symmetrically arranged about a vertical axis includes a suction port 5 and central hole 6 and a stub shaft 7 respectively supporting the drive and driven gears 10, 14 mounted in openings 9, 13 in the plate 3. An opening 15 in the plate 3 communicates with the suction port 5 and the suction side 16 of the pump whilst an opening 18 communicates with the discharge oxide of the pump and a connection 19 in the plate 4. The latter connection through openings 23, 25 in the base-plate 1, a filter 24 and an annular chamber 20 in the plate 4 is connected to one or other connections 26, 27 supplying the low-pressure side of the wobble plate pump. To reverse the direction of rotation of the drive gear 10, the plate 3 is reversed so that the opening 15 is on the other side of the centre line of that plate and the plate 4 is rotated through an angle of 90 degrees to register the discharge opening 18 with the opening 25 in the base-plate 1. In another embodiment, the pump includes a drive gear and two driven gears on either side thereof with the axes of the three gears on the vertical centre line of the plate 3. To facilitate the escape of trapped oil between the gears and reduce noise each gear tooth includes at least one bore connecting the tooth tip and the tooth root with the central bore supporting the bearing shaft which latter is formed with grooves to collect the trapped oil. |
