The invention relates to a method and arrangement meant for protecting the inner sides of the cooling towers shell, and especially for protecting the shell of towers receiving pure gas derived from a fume gas-desulfurising installation. The provided protection consists in protecting the aforementioned cooling towers against the influence of waterfalls composed of strongly acid liquefied steams; waterfalls are created by contents of reduced sulphur dioxide and aerosol formed by suspended sulphuric acid particles namely by pure gaz coming from the fume gas-desulfurising installation. Protection is obtained, via a wetting means which is constantly directed, throughout operation, with the help of a spraying system, to all inner sides of the water-cooling tower shell. The above mentioned wetting means is conveyed through an adequate jet spraying arrangement aiming at the top inner walls of the water-cooling tower shell, and forms a layer of liquid on the inner walls of said tower. |
