ETHYLENE-ALPHA-OLEFIN-NONCONJUGATED POLYENE RANDOM COPOLYMER, COMPOSITION OF THE COPOLYMER AND PRODUCTION OF THE COPOLYMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ethylene-α-olefin-nonconjugated polyene random copolymer having broad molecular weight distribution and excellent processability by polymerizing ethylene, anα-olefin and a specific nonconjugated polyene in the presence of a specific transition metal catalyst. SOLUTION: The objective copolymer is produced by the polymerization of (A) ethylene, (B) a 3-20Cα-olefin and (C) a nonconjugated polyene at least containing a nonconjugated polyene having hydrogen atoms bonded to all carbon atoms having double bonds in the presence of a catalyst composed of a transition metal complex having a cyclopentadienyl skeleton. The copolymer satisfies the following conditions (D) to (G). (D) The molar ratio of (the unit originating from ethylene in the copolymer)/(the unit originating fromα-lefin) is 95/5 to 20/80; (E) the iodine value is 0-50 (g/100 g polymer); (F) the intrinsic viscosity [η]is 0.5-10 dL/g (xylene, 70 deg.C) and (G) the Q value (weight-average molecular weight/number-average molecular weight) is >=3.0 by gel-permeation chromatography.
