PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously obtain a pressure sensitive adhesive composition having a higher K value compared with a composition based on a solvent by compounding a natural rubber latex and a tackifier. SOLUTION: A tackifier in a dispersed, molten or solid state is mixed with a natural rubber latex and its water content is adjusted to 45 wt.% or less. Homogeneity can be attained without necessitating such extreme shear stress as required in case of a solid rubber, rendering kneading for many hours in a batch operation unnecessary and requiring only a very short residence time in an extruder, thus enabling a continuous process for preparation wherein mixing of the latex and other ingredients and dehydration can be carried out in one extruder. In addition to the natural rubber latex and the tackifier can be compounded fillers, antioxidants, plasticizers, pigments and the like. Preferably employed is a centrifuged latex. This adhesive composition is applied to paper, film or cloth by direct or indirect coating to form an adhesive tape or a label.
