PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fast read the recorded images by a digital camera and also to minimize the number of component parts of an image reader to minimize its weight by attaching removably the digital camera to the image reader which reads the images recorded on an original such as a film. SOLUTION: A digital camera 50 is attached removably to an image reader 10, and the reader 10 is controlled by a mode changeover dial 71, a zooming panel 72 and a release button 73 of the camera 50. Then the images recorded on a film F are read by an area sensor of the camera 50. Thus, the recorded images are fast read and also the number of component parts of the reader 10 is minimized for reduction of the weight of the reader 10.
