GLASS CHOPPED STRAND AND GLASS FIBER-REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC RESIN USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass chopped strand capable of improving an tracking- resistant properties to a molding product of a glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin by treating the surface of the glass fiber with a sizing agent containing a fluorine compound having a fluorine-containing aliphatic chain. SOLUTION: This glass chopped strand is produced by using a glass fiber surface-treated with a sizing agent containing a fluorine compound having a fluorine-containing aliphatic chain in an amount regulated so that the 0.05-2 wt.% sizing agent based on the glass fiber may be attached thereto. The glass chopped strand in the proportion of 5-70 wt.% is preferably used as a reinforcing agent for a thermoplastic polyester resin. A polytetrafluoroethylene, a polyvinylidene fluoride, a tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether copolymer, a tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer, a copolymer containing a perfluoroalkylethyl acrylate as one component, or the like is suitable as the fluorine compound.
