PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive wherein the compatibility with a water-soluble high polymer binder for an ink receiving layer of an ink jet recording sheet, and the miscibility between the binder and a blend dispersing body comprising a porous pigment are favorable, and which can form an image of a high grade with water-resistance. SOLUTION: This additive which is added in an applying liquid at the time when an ink receiving layer for an ink jet recording sheet is formed, is an ionene polymer obtained by copolymerizing dimethylamine, one kind or more selected from alkylamines (excluding dimethylamine) and benzylamines, and epihalohydrine. The ionene polymer is represented by the formula (in the formula, R1 and R2 each indicate a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic alkyl group of 1-18C or a benzyl group, R3 indicates an aliphatic alkyl group of 6-18C or a benzyl group, and the alkyl groups may be under either a normal chain state or a branched state, and X indicates an anion which is selected from a halogen ion, a sulphate ion, alkyl and aryl sulfonic acid ions, and an acetic acid ion, and (m) and (n) are positive numbers indicating polymerization degrees.), and a polymerization ratio m:n is preferably 1:1-1:50. |
