The regulator valve for air or liquid has an inlet (3) or outlet (2) chamber connected by, or sealed off by, a single control piston (9). When the piston is at its lowest no flow occurs, as the piston blocks the gap (4) between the chambers. When the piston rises, fluid flows along a channel (10) past the restriction (4), the flow rate being dependent on the height. At its highest point, the flow is via the central cavity (11) of the piston.
