PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical head and an optical recording device capable of reproducing a high-density optical recording medium while maintaining compatibility with a write-once type optical recording medium of a dystuff system. SOLUTION: In order to reproduce an optical recording medium having substrate thickness of 0.6 mm and a track pitch of 0.74 μm, an optical head 1 provided with a laser source of a wave length of about 780 nm and an objective lens having an aperture exceeding 0.6 and PRML signal processing technology are used for on optical recording device. In this case, the optical head 1 is provided with an optical system for reproducing an optical recording medium having substrate thickness of 1.2 mm and a track pitch of 1.6 μm and the optical system is switched according to the optical recording medium. |
