4-Aminosteroids

Steroids of partial formula - (I) R' and R2 = opt. subst. alkyl which may be opt. joined together to form a N-heterocyclic ring, opt. contng. another heteroatom or another N-atom. - Especially claimed are compounds of formula (II) - R', R2 are as above. - where - X = halogen - Y = - where R3 = H or acyl - Z = CH2, CO or CH.OH. - The androstanes are anabolic, androgenic and anti-oestrogenic agents. The pregnanes are progestogens. 4-Piperidino-17-acetoxy-1alpha, 2alpha-methylene-4,6-pregnadiene-3,20-dione has a threshold value of 0.01 mg. orally in the Clauberg test, does not inhibit ovulation at 3 mg. and a dose of 3 mg. orally gives 11% inhibition of seminal vesicles and 7% inhibition of the prostate. - Dose 5-100 mg. daily.
