Combustion chamber structure for IC engine

The chamber contains a centrally positioned spark plug and has intake and exhaust valves on opposite sides of the cylinder head. An aperture (28) with a mainly rectangular base (28x) extending in the impact direction connecting intake and exhaust valves is formed in the piston base (8a). The aperture is formed to define vertical wall sections to generate pinched flows on both sides of the aperture in impact direction. The wall sections are next to the piston base, so that it connects both ends of the aperture smoothly to the piston base.
