PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve properties such as viscosity, pour point and the like by comprising an esterified product by lower alcohol of corn oil and/or safflower oil. SOLUTION: Corn oil and/or safflower oil is reacted with an alcohol in the presence of acid or alkali and esterified to improve the properties of these oils, whereby an insulating liquid which is improved in viscosity, pour point and the like is provided. The alcohol used is a 4C alcohol, preferably isobutyl alcohol (2-methyl-1-propanol). The resulting esterified product can be used as the insulating oil by itself, and also used in the form of a mixture with other general insulating oils such as alkyl benzene since it is superior in compatibility with these oils. Furthermore, a general antioxidant or pour point depressant may be added. This insulating oil has the same application range as the general insulating oils. |
