The coil (4) is placed in the field of a permanent magnet (2). A closed loop (10) conductor is arranged in the coil so that the flux produced by the closed loop opposes the flux generated by the magnet in the coil (4). The electrical signal at the terminals (51, 52) is representative of the flux variations across the coil. The variation in the signal indicates the state of the inductive sensor.
