PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alcohol-based germicidal composition excellent in safety to human and environment and exhibiting germicidal effect on a broad range of pathogenic fungi and bacteria (having broad antimicrobial spectrum) and capable of readily handling according to uses. SOLUTION: This germicidal composition comprises 35-65 wt.% alcohol, (a) 0.007-10 wt.% natural extract, (b) 0.007-10 wt.% surfactant and (c) water. The germicidal composition or disinfectant in which the germicidal composition is impregnated is brought into contact with a material to be disinfected to carry out sterilization and/or disinfection of the material to be disinfected. In this case, the alcohol is preferably ethyl alcohol and the natural extract (a) is at least one kind of compound selected from applephenone, hinokitiol, polylysine and green tea extract. |
