ROSIN-BASED NEUTRAL SIZING AGENT, SIZING OF NEUTRAL PAPER AND NEUTRAL SIZED PAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an emulsion type rosin-based neutral sizing agent having various characteristics as the emulsion type rosin-based neutral sizing agent and capable of giving sized paper satisfying ink jet recording suitability in a neutral pH region of 6-9. SOLUTION: This rosin-based neutral sizing agent contains an emulsion comprising a rosin substance, a dispersant and water. Therein, the rosin substance comprises (1) a reinforced rosin obtained by reinforcing 100 pts.wt. of a rosin with >=11 pts.wt. of anα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid and (2) a rosin ester and/or a reinforced rosin ester in a (1)/(2) solid fraction ratio of 40:60 to 70:30.
