<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an ATM switch of small scale useable, even when a switch capacity is large by attaching the check symbol of an error correction code that makes an ATM cell an information symbol,dividing an information part into plural partial cells, attaching the same routing tag to each partial cell and independently routing each or them, based on the routing tag. SOLUTION: An ATM cell of 56-byte length is inputted from 2.4 Gb/s incoming highways 1 to 8 in the form of 40 Mb/s×64-bit parallel×7 lines. The ATM cell consists of an 8-byte cell header and a 48-byte cell information part. Cell dividing circuits 21 to 28 divides a cell of the 40 Mb/s×64-bit parallel×7 lines by each 8-bit parallel, respectively attaches the same routing tag and converts them into eight pieces of partial cessl.The transfer capacity of a switch is of a value obtained by dividing the entire switch capacity with the division number of a cell, and the entire hardware scale becomes about 1/(the number of partitions 2) of the scale at the time,when dividing is not performed.</p> |
