A fuel carrying cavity(2) is formed inside the cylinder head(1) and extends in the longitudinal direction of the engine, and within the cavity is a tubular insert(3) with a central feed passage(5) to form a coaxial chamber(4) connected to the injectors. The insert over its axial extent is supported in a bearing component(8) dividing the chamber into sections(4a,4b) separated from one another and which are connected to the feed passage by means of defined flow ports(6a,6b) allocated to individual cylinders(Z1-Z4).
