Magnetic tagging of stacked books

Singled books (2) on a stack (1) are first interleaved along a handler (3) and the carrier film (7,8) with the magnetic strip (5,6) is placed on the interleaved books and the film then peeled off so the tagged books can be removed and then stacked. The books move continuously below sealing wheels (11,12) which press the film onto the books continuously in the handler (3), using a doctor blade (15) to peel the film off crossways. Preferably two magnetic strips are pressed home at once and in parallel and the books are suggestibly savings books or passports. The magnetic strip applicator (4) comprises a film spool (9), sealing wheel (11), doctor blade (15) and rewinder (16) for the peeled film.
