PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source which is compact and inexpensive, whose service life is long and which is constituted so that the various kinds of lamps can be accepted without changing component elements, for example, the light source used for a video projector. SOLUTION: The high-luminance lamps 61-63 are fitted among four heat sinks 32, 34, 36 and 38. Then, the sinks 32, 34, 36 and 38 are attached to a printed circuit board 28. Besides, a cooling ring 64 is attached in front of the lamps 61-63 by including an inclined high-temperature mirror 65. Since infrared rays are reflected toward the lamps 61-63 by avoiding the axes of the lamps 61-63, the temperature is lowered and the service life of the lamps 61-63 is prolonged. The whole component elements are packaged in a housing and the housing is constituted so that an air flow is guided through the sinks 32, 34, 36 and 38. Thus, the lamps 61-63 are easily cooled by a fan 40. |
