The IC engine is the type where components of the inlet assembly (10) are fitted on the intake side and the components of the exhaust assembly are fitted on the exhaust side. A shaft driven (18) fan impeller (16) is located in front of the engine behind its radiator (22) and encased in a housing (24) so that cooling air is blown against the radiator and cool air reaches the engine. The annular gap (C1) between the fan impeller and fan housing is larger on the exhaust side than on the inlet side so that cool air is preferably guided towards the exhaust side.
