摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent transfer efficiency and to prevent the deterioration of a transfer image caused by Paschen discharge at the terminal of a transfer nip in a color image forming device equipped with a transfer device which performs discharging in the transfer nip. SOLUTION: The back surface potential of an intermediate transfer belt 2 necessary to a minimum in order to elecrostatically separate the toner of a visible image stuck to a photoreceptor drum 1 toward the belt 2 side in a transfer nip is defined as V1. Time necessary to a minimum to hold the back surface potential of the belt at >=V1 as an absolute value in order to transfer the visible image consisting of the solid image on the drum 1 to the belt 2 side with transfer efficiency of >90% is defined asΔT. Then, the back surface potential of the belt causing the start potential difference of Paschen discharge between the drum 1 and the belt 2 at the terminal of the transfer nip in the moving direction of the belt is defined as V2. At such a time, L1 L2, etc., are set so that the the back surface potential of the belt may be held at >=V1 as the absolute value between L1 forΔT or more and the back surface potential of the belt at the terminal may be <V2 as the absolute value.
