PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the set value of the preload on a conical roller bearing. SOLUTION: The relation of a preload amount on the inner ring of a conical roller bearing to the elastic displacement amount of an inner ring flange part 8 is determined previously, and a nut 3 is rotated while the elastic displacement amount is measured, and the nut 3 is stopped rotating when the elastic displacement amount for the specified preload amount is attained. Because the preload is set on the basis of the elastic displacement amount of the inner ring flange part 8 which has less dispersion with respect to the preload amount, it is possible to make a preload setting more stable than the case in which the management is made with the torque.
