PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side light capable of preventing the generation of a lighting defect even when the size and thickness of the side light are reduced and suppressing uneven display caused by heat generation and a liquid crystal display device provided with the side light. SOLUTION: Since members 57 for reflecting infrared rays are arranged on the peripheries of electrode parts on both the ends of a cathod fluorescent tube 50 in the side light, heat discharge from the electrode parts can be suppressed, the generation of a temperature drop can be prevented, electric discharge can be stabilized, and a lighting defect can be removed. On the other hand, heat discharge is improved on parts other than the electrodes 52 of the tube 50, so that the overheat of a liquid crystal panel can be prevented and uneven display can also be removed. |
