PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make retrievable a document stored in a language except the language to be used for a retrieval reference, by decomposing the retrieval reference into words, listing up arrangement composed of words translated to the language of a data base, checking the arrangement to each document in the data base and retrieving the document from the data base based on the check. SOLUTION: The retrieval reference is generated in a format effective for processing at a computer (S100). The retrieval reference is analyzed into noun phrase (S110). Series of translation dictionaries are edited for each noun phrase (S120). The combination list of words in the translation dictionary is generated (S130). The data base in a foreign language is analyzed for each listed-up low- order retrieval reference. This analysis checks similarity between the document in the data base in the foreign language and the low-order retrieval reference and specifies the document related with the retrieval reference (S140). The document is retrieved from the data base in the foreign language (S150). |
