PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast method and system with compatibility such that no sense of incongruity is caused even when a broadcast is received by a conventional receiver instead of a stereoscopic receiver and a stereoscopic video image is viewed by a stereoscopic receiver. SOLUTION: This system is provided with a code conversion means 101 that applies code conversion to a right eye video signal and a left eye video signal to be non-stereoscopic receiver use digital video signals with different channels at a transmitter side and a multiplexing means 102 that multiplexes signals of plural channels and the transmitter sends the resulting signals. By an exclusive receiver that selects and decodes signals of 2 channels, a stereoscopic video image is viewed, and even a receiver capable of selecting and decoding only one channel receives either of a right eye and a left view video image without causing a deformed image pattern. Thus, a non-stereoscopic video receiver has no sense of incongruity and by the exclusive receiver a stereoscopic video image is viewed. By such the system a compatible stereoscopic video image broadcast is realized. |
