An automotive seat is adjusted up and down, forwards and back, by a beam (1) which rests on a bush bearing, which moves between two end-stops (2b,4). The bearing play is eliminated by a plastics washer (7). When new, the washer width (b) is equal to or greater than the axial play (a-d) between the beam (1) and the two end-stops.
