A method for manufacturing aluminum alloy can body stock including two sequences of continuous, in-line operations. The first sequence includes the continuous, in-line steps of hot rolling 6, coiling 7 and coil self-annealing and the second sequence includes the continuous, in-line steps of uncoiling, quenching 8 without intermediate cooling, cold rolling 9 and coiling 12.
