<p>A plate, e.g. of zirconium alloy and designed to be assembled with others to form a fuel rod cell grid, has a series of equidistant vertical slots in one edge. These allow it to be interlocked with other slotted plates. The plate has pairs of bosses between the slots to retain a fuel rod (32) in the correct position in the cell, and has concave chamfers (31) on one edge. The chamfers can be of constant or varying width, being widest half way between the slots and narrowest close to them.</p> |
