PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide battery structure for an electric vehicle that can reduce vertical dimension of a battery and improve cooling performance. SOLUTION: Cell storage parts 5 and cell pressers 6 of a lower case 4A constituting a case shell part of a battery case 3, and cell storage parts 5 and cell pressers 6 of an upper case 4B are shifted by a half pitch so as to arrange a plurality of columnar battery cells 1 horizontally in multiple stages in a vertically zigzag state. The vertical dimension of the battery case 3 can therefore be reduced, and a closing cover 7 is connected to a floor skeleton member 23 to cool a battery directly with outside air, so that cooling performance can be improved.
