The electronic label system includes a rail (1) to which the individual labels (20) are attached. The rail has two projecting wings at the top and bottom, each offering a longitudinal groove (10,12) into which fits a projecting rib (26,30) on the top and bottom o the electronic label. In the base of the rail (1) there is a ribbon (17) which carries two conducting tracks to ensure the provision of electrical supply to the label. Flexible lamella contacts (32) are provided in the base of the label in order to providing sliding connections to pick up the electrical supply from the tracks.
