Continuous conductor loop built into conveyor belt

The conveyor or feed belt (2) has reinforcement members. It is constructed with a built in flexible tube (10) that is filled with a conductive powder (12). The tube acts as a conductor that is coupled into an electrical circuit and deforms when a mechanical load (8) is applied. When the load is sufficiently large the powder is displaced to an extent that continuity is interrupted and an overload condition signalled.
