The measuring device includes a retainer (2,3) which encloses the outer wall of the tubing (1). At least one sensor (6) measures the force exerted on the retainer by the internal pressure (P) inside the tubing. The tubing is held in the retainer such that there is no deformation or strain in the tubing material caused by the internal pressure. The retainer may be formed in two parts. The sensor measuring the forces acts between the two parts or between at least a part of the retainer and a thrust bearing (7,7a).
