The galvanizing installation includes a drum which is rotatable by a motor, and serves for accommodation of components to be galvanized. One pole of the galvanizing current is brought into the drum interior by means of a freely mounted contact cable (4) with a contact bulb (41) at its end. The contact cable incorporates a feeler conductor (45) which continuously measures conduction between itself and the contact bulb (41) by means of an electronic measuring device (51). A rise in conduction as a consequence of damage to the insulation (43) of the copper cable (42) causes a warning signal to be issued.
