A tent (10) has a tent cover (14a,14b;25) supported by a support frame (45a, b) in the form of one or more one linked rod system (45a,45b), each of which is associated with several tensioning ropes connected between the tent cover and a single fixing point (36). Preferably, the tent cover (14a,14b;25) consists of an elastic material laminate, especially of expanded PTFE. The plane of the tent is tensioned between two rods so as to define a taut unit. The rods are held upright by a dynamic stress based on the tensile force of the guy ropes (30a,30b,30c) and the opposing force of the plane of the tent.
