This valve includes a float 9, volume V, on which is fixed a weight 10. These two are joined by a moveable link 7 with a pair of levers 6, 4, 8 the latter of which has a moveable link 3 to the piston 2 which closes or opens the valve 1. All the mechanism lies within a cast iron cylinder 11. When there is no liquid, the weight pulls the float downwards and the exit is open. If liquid enters, then it covers the float and exerts lift due to the volume V. This lift is greater than the weight and the float rises and closes the exit. If air collects, the liquid and the float sink and open the valve; the air is released and the liquid enters, reoccupying the space. This is the operating cycle of the valve. Its operation is not affected by the prevailing pressure or the type of liquid, even if there are solid objects floating in it. |
